"Cement Saints"

All my life I've been surrounded by religion
Martha's in the kitchen
While no one really listens
Too busy making clean
With mediocre deeds
To you, do I even have a heartbeat?

[chorus]
Why not let God do his work?
Let him do the speaking
And you do the listening
Too long have I sat in the seat
While you preach to me
About all the things I need to be
When you haven't heard a single thing

Heaven isn't lined with statues
It isn't built on the statutes
Or the scriptures that you misuse
But souls alive, who thrive
Who let love rule on an open sky
A kingdom come alive
A kingdom inside

[chorus]
Why not let God do his work?
Let him do the healing
And you do the seeking
Too long have I sat in the seat
While you preach to me
About all the things I need to be
When you haven't heard
You haven't heard a single thing

Split in two
Split in two
The veil was cut through
Throw the rules out the window
And fall in love again
Can't you see how bad I need you?

Faith without works is dead
And works without faith is a life misled
So let grace fall upon your head
You don't have to be perfect, you just need to be desperate
