"Common Enemy"

We're sitting in the car and
We're talking all about them
No, they're not here to hear it
But that's not going to stop us

We're giving into boredom
A lack of conversation
Pointing our blame to someone
It's one less thing to face ourselves

[chorus]
Friendship isn't built upon
Seeing other peoples' wrongs
We're raising up like armies
To find a common enemy
To keep the mirror intact
But my own reflection's cracked
And I don't like what's looking back

We're rolling up our sleeves
To say so many things
That we can't say to the faces
Of the ones who need to hear it

We're hiding behind our pride
Cooped up and kept inside
But it's turning into a monster
And it's eating everyone alive

[chorus]
Friendship isn't built upon
Righting other peoples' wrongs
We're raising up like armies
To find a common enemy
But it won't help this time

Are we really so conceited
That we can't even
Go toe to toe with friend or foe
To get to the bottom
We build up faulty walls
To rise above it all
But we're all the enemy
We're all the enemy
Turn the mirror back on me

[chorus]
Friendship isn't built upon
Seeing other peoples' wrongs
We're raising up like armies
To find a common enemy
To keep the mirror intact
But my own reflection's cracked
'Cause when I turn the mirror back on me
Then I can finally face the facts
